About the Artist--
Jeri Lynn Hoover, after 16 years of nursing, returned to college and received a degree in Interior Design. During the course of study, Jeri began taking individual watercolor instruction and continued with studying for a year after graduation in 1989. Considering herself a watercolor "purist", she has consistently worked with transparent watercolor pigments on cold-pressed paper, using no blacks or whites in her work. Her art represents colorful, intricate symbols of a light-filled world that she likes to share with others. Jeri remains fascinated with underwater life, and renders its intense colors, textures, and excitement in her paintings. And, along with painting house portraits, Jeri also paints commission projects upon request. She is a member of the Clarksville ARTZ, a group of local artists who display their artwork in various venues around town, and also has jewelry on consignment at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, New Jersey.
Jeri became interested in creating watercolor jewelry in order to express herself in an inexpensive medium that was still an artform in itself. The jewelry has been an evolution for her--only a couple of people have given her advice on techniques; "I'm on my own" has been her motto for the past 19 years that she has been producing the jewelry. Now she has the technique the way she wants it; she admits that it is very labor intensive. Jeri is now combining some of her watercolor jewelry with her beaded projects, adding more interest and style to her work. Please visit here often to see what new designs she has created!
